Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Thomas J. Bessignano will be held at 11:30 AM, Friday, January 27, 2017 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5th Street, Peru, IN with Father Adam Mauman officiating. Burial will be at Ever Rest Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main Street, Peru, IN prior to the service.

Thomas Joseph Bessignano formerly of Peru, IN passed away at 6:30 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2017 at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. Thomas was born in Peru on February 12, 1942, the son of Frank R. and Edith M. Cantoni Bessignano. Tom graduated Peru High School in 1960 and attended Indiana State University. Tom married Virginia Ann “Ginny” Spencer on May 6, 1965 and she survives. Tom owned and operated Froggies’s Restaurant for 40 years. He founded and ran the Bessignano Invitational since 1979.Tom loved cooking and making his Froggie Sausage for everyone to enjoy. Not too many would ever turn down a meal when Tom was cooking. He enjoyed IU Basketball, Notre Dame Football and the Chicago Bears. He was known as Big Poppy by his grandchild. Tom is survived by his wife Ginny, sons Bryan and his wife Dianna Bessignano, Columbus, OH, Michael and his wife Jaime Bessignano, Fishers, IN, a daughter Anne and her husband Cary Buccilla, Fishers, IN; and a nephew Mark Caldwell, Indianapolis, IN; brothers Mick Bessignano, FL, Tim Bessignano, Peru, IN; a sister Joreen Caldwell, Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren Drew Bessignano, Nicholas Bessignano, Joseph Bessignano, Andrea Buccilla, Vincent Buccilla, Isabella Bessignano, Sophia Bessignano and Rocco Bessignano. Tom was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Thomas J. Bessignano will be held at 11:30 AM, Friday, January 27, 2017 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5th Street, Peru, IN with Father Adam Mauman officiating. Burial will be at Ever Rest Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main Street, Peru, IN prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made through the funeral home to Turnstone Center for Disabled Children and Adults.
