Thelma D. “Aunt Dick” Taylor

Thelma D. “Aunt Dick” Taylor, 86, Sweetser, received her eternal reward at 3:05 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017, in Marion General Hospital. She was born in Shawanee, Tennessee, to Ezra and Flossie (Bussell) Pendleton. Thelma married the love of her life, John C. Taylor, on August 6, 1959, and they shared 57 years together until he passed away on December 4, 2016.

Thelma was a homemaker and was a blessing to her husband and all who knew her. She loved the Lord and worshipped at Woodland Hills Church of Christ. Thelma enjoyed sewing and had a great passion for quilting. Several of the quilts she had made were entered into the Quilter’s Hall of Fame.

She will be missed by her sister, Phyllis (David) Turner, Sweetser; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and her friend and extremely spoiled family dog, Otis.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Ezra (Flossie) Pendleton; her loving husband, John C. Taylor; and her three sisters, Audry, Mary, and Betty.

The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

A Celebration of Life service for Thelma will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 4, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Pullum officiating. Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery.

The family’s charities of choice are Marion-Grant County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1921, Marion, IN 46952 and Woodland Hills Church of Christ, 2718 N. Wabash Rd., Marion, IN 46952.
