Susan Youtsey Ireland, 51, Denver, passed away at home at 4:06 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016, surrounded by her family.

She was born September 8, 1964, in Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky.

A graduate of Beachwood High School in Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky, she went on to receive her education at DePauw, Ball State, Purdue, St. Mary’s College, and Texas A & M., and she was a devoted Kentucky Wildcats basketball fan.

Mrs. Ireland was retired from North Miami Community Schools, where she taught high school Math and Science for over twenty years.  She was active in her community as an EMT, volunteering with the Denver Fire Department, and in addition to teaching, Susan used her talents to help tutor many students over the years.

She was married to Randy Ireland on July 8, 1995 in Denver, Indiana, and on September 9, 1998, she gave birth to a son, Andrew, who was her pride and joy.  In addition to her husband and son, she is survived by her three step-children, Kent (Jenn) Ireland, Denver; Kelly (Tom) Maynard, Peru; and Lacy (Duely) Lawson, Denver; and eight grandchildren, Clayton, Madison, and Nathan Maynard, all of Peru; Seth and Isaac Ireland, all of Denver; and Hunter, Hilary, and Logan Lawson, all of Denver; mother, Nancyann C. Youtsey, Ft. Mitchell, KY; two sisters, Nancy L. Youtsey, Wellington, Florida; and Deborah A. Youtsey, Ft. Mitchell, KY; and brother, Thomas O. Youtsey III, Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky; and many extended family members and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Odiorne Youtsey, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016 at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, with Pastor Tim Earle officiating.  Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver.

Visitation will be from 2-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan Ireland Memorial Fund c/o Denver Lions Club, which will be used to establish a benefit fund for cancer victims within our community.
