Supreme Court to hold oral argument in Wabash County with 19 schools in attendance

The Indiana Supreme Court will travel to the Honeywell Center in Wabash County on Thursday, April 18. The Court will hold oral argument in a criminal case addressing the Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination. The argument is in the case ofKatelin Seo v. State of Indiana (18S-CR-595).

The Court holds approximately 60 oral arguments at the State House in Indianapolis each year. Occasionally, it schedules arguments outside the capital to allow students, press, and public in other areas of the state an opportunity to see the work of the Court.

This argument will take place in the Ford Theater at the Honeywell Center, 275 W. Market Street, Wabash, Indiana 46992 at 10:00 a.m. EDT. The 50-minute argument is open to the press and public. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Those interested in attending will be required to enter through the north doors of the Honeywell Center and go through security.

Over 750 students from the following schools are scheduled to attend the argument:

  • Pierceton Woods Academy
  • Southwood Elementary School
  • Southwood Jr./Sr. High School
  • The Arc Wabash County
  • Tippecanoe Valley High School
  • Wabash High School
  • Wabash Middle School
  • White’s Jr./Sr. High School

Press are welcome to attend in person to videotape/photograph the argument. There are rules to establish decorum: http://courts.in.gov/files/order-other-2013-49s00-1301-ms-61.pdf. Adjustments will be made due to the location; therefore, press interested in attending must contact Outreach Coordinator, Sarah Kidwell at sarah.kidwell@courts.in.gov by Wednesday, April 10 at noon.
