Sister Nancy M. Pelphrey, 91, of rural Wabash, Indiana, went to be with her Heavenly Father, surrounded by her family, at 11:45 am, Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Wellbrooke of Wabash. She was born April 23, 1925 in Van Lear, Kentucky to David and Lula (Mahan) Sluss.

Nancy married Rev. Richard Lee Pelphrey on January 30, 1946 in Paintsville, Kentucky; he died June 27, 1996. She retired from US Gypsum in Wabash and also worked many years at Wagner’s in Wabash. Nancy was a member of the South Side Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing, quilting, gardening, canning, playing her French harp, and going to church.

She is survived by five children, Charles (Joyceen) Pelphrey of Roann, Roger Pelphrey of North Manchester, Indiana, Virginia Music of Boons Camp, Kentucky, Linda (Cledies) Holbrook of Wabash, Deloise Hurst of Roann; 36 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, and 7 step grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, William David Pelphrey and Ronnie Dean Pelphrey, six brothers, and five sisters.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Wabash Free Will Baptist Church, 1056 E. Erie Street, Wabash, with Rev. Tim Webb and Rev. Tod Masters officiating. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 2-8pm Wednesday, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash.

Preferred memorial is American Diabetes Association.
