Sigrid Elisabeth (Ziegler) Mitchener, 73, Marion, passed away at 4:50 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Heppenheim, Germany, on March 18, 1944, to the late Erwin and Aenne (Eisinger) Ziegler. On May 2, 1975, Sigrid married Gerald Mitchener, and he preceded her in death on November 17, 2015.
Sigrid was a hard worker throughout her life. She loved her job and her co-workers at Ardagh Group, where she was employed for 30 years. Sigrid also loved being in the home and always looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren and attending their events.
She is survived by her children, Tino (Kerri) Mitchener, Marion, Corrina (Christian) Stahl, Germany, Tracy (Tonya) Mitchener, Ohio, and Terysa (Myron) Harner, Florida; grandchildren, AJ Mitchener, Isaac Mitchener, Chaunce Windle, Molly Windle, Joshua Mitchener, Ashley Lidstone, Jade O’Mara, and Jarren O’Mara; great-grandchildren, Darrin Lidstone, Liam Lidstone, Hayden Mitchener, and Layne Lidstone; brother, Axel (Ute) Ziegler; and her dog, Oscar.
The family will have a private visitation with Sigrid’s funeral service taking place at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Pastor Mick Simpkins will be officiating with burial following at Marion National Cemetery.
