Shirley Jean Wooten, 78, Marion, died at 4:09 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2016, at Marion General Hospital. She was born in Hazzard, Kentucky, in Perry County to the late Roy Ray and Agnes (Jones) Feltner on March 11, 1938.

Shirley worked as a selector and quality inspector at Foster Forbes and retired in 2000 after over 30 years of service. She enjoyed puzzle books, artwork, coloring, playing video games, flowers, plants, and gardening. Shirley had a strong love of music and singing, especially gospel and country western. She was an excellent cook and her homemade meals will be missed by many. She was a dedicated worker and loving mother, not only to her own children, but also their friends. Shirley was a devoted churchgoer before her illness, and she always kept her close relationship with God, encouraging her children to do the same.

Survivors include her children, Alex Wooten and Mabel (Jim) Aaron; grandchildren, Heather Renee Stumbo, Daniel Lee Johns, Mitchell Garrett Wooten, and Noah Webster Wooten; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by two sons, Larry and Jimmy; a granddaughter, Dana Lynn Johns; and a sister, Gwendolyn Spencer.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home on Saturday, October 15, 2016, with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow at Estates of Serenity in Marion.
