Shelby J. Shockome, age 75, of Andrews, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 9:48 pm at Parkview Huntington Hospital. She had worked in housekeeping at Norwoods Health and Rehabilitation and Millers Merry Manor and as a cashier at the Andrews Dairy Store. She was a member of Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church, Andrews, was devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, collected bells and teapots, and loved to bake and give away cookies.
Shelby was born October 7, 1940, in Hazzard, Kentucky, the daughter of Cecil and Lonia (Combs) Williams. On November 5, 1960 she married her beloved husband of 52 years Jay Shockome in Huntington and he preceded her in death January 7, 2013. She is survived by a daughter Denise (Robert) Taylor of North Manchester, 3 sons Timothy Shockome of Huntington, Tony (Rainelle) Shockome of Columbia City, and Karl (Amy) Shockome of Andrews, 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 3 brothers Edward (Phyllis) Williams of Huntington, Don Williams of Fort Wayne, and Larry (Cindy) Williams of Huntington. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers Clayton Williams and Nelson Williams and 5 sisters Virginia Jones, Ann Haines and Versa McClellan, Florsie Krieg and Joanna Long.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 15 from 1-3 pm at preceding the 3:00 pm funeral service at Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church, Andrews. Pastors Rolla Blair and Matthew Snodderly will officiate. Burial will follow in Andrews Riverside Cemetery.
