Shelby J. Downey, age73, of Huntington, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at 5:30 pm at her home surrounded by her loving family. She worked at Wabash Technology and retired from Indiana Packaging in 2006. She enjoyed knitting, Bingo, and flowers.
Shelby was born July 11, 1943, in Sand Francisco, CA, the daughter of Noah and Ovaline (Branscum) Martin. She is survived by 3 sons Jerry (Tammy) Downey of Warren, Ricky (Dawn) Downey of Huntington, and Rodney Downey of Huntington, a daughter Wanda (Chris) Shepperd of Andrews, a brother Gary Martin of Huntington, 12 grandchildren Nick Shepperd, Jeremy Downey, Cassandra (Tyler) Tackett, Derek Downey, Amanda (Adam Vogelman) Downey, Jordon Downey, Taylor Downey, Aaron Downey, Casey Newsome, Courtney (Greg) Emley, Tad Downey, Jessica Downey and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son George Downey, a grandson Cody Shepperd, and a brother Ronnie Martin.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 22, from 12:30- 1:30 pm at Deal-Rice Funeral home prior to the 2:00 p m graveside service in Star of Hope Cemetery, Huntington.
