Sharon Sue Chasteen, 79, Rockford, Ohio, died at 3:06 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, Van Wert, Ohio. A former resident of Marion for 52 years, Sharon was born in Elwood, Indiana, to the late Robert Gritton and Eva (Frye) Gritton-Ray.
Sharon was a homemaker who loved shopping, reading, crossword puzzles, her dogs, and spending time with her family, and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Becky (Doug) Tuell, Peru; son, Stephen (Peggy) Parker; step-daughter-in-law, Kathy Chasteen; honorary daughter, Carolyn Searles, Rockford, Ohio; step-son-in-law, Victor Cruz, Florida; brother-in-law, Tom Leavell, Elwood; brothers, David (Frances) Ray and Mike (Susan) Ray, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Dottie (Charles) Hampton, Mooresville, Barbara (Sam) Workman, Kentucky, and Ruth Chasteen, Camby; grandchildren, Darcy Parker, Bobby Whelchel, Cody Knuckles, Stephen Parker, II, Victor, Jr. and Valentine (Heather) Cruz, Martina (Barry) Nelson, Jennie and Amber Chasteen, Josh and Justin Eiler, and Thomas and Matthew Searles; great-grandchildren, Zackary Price, Sean, Alexis, and Shannon Nice, Rogelio, Alexander, and Amelia Cruz, Jasmine and Victoria Nelson, Balin and Skyler Welchel, Michael Hale, Joshua, Randall, Tiesha, and Kaitlynne Chasteen, Rackwon, Markwon, and JuJuan Bounds, Kiera, Kaden, and Christian Searles, Sebastian, Josslyn, and Savannah Parker; and many nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack; sisters, Patricia Gritton and Emily Leavell; step-son, Kenneth Chasteen; step-daughter, Denise Cruz; and grandchildren, Wendy Parker, Rogelio Cruz, and Tyler Searles.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Wally Champion officiating. Burial will follow Grant Memorial Park.
