Sharon Lee Zernack, 86, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 12:31 pm, Sunday, January 22, 2017 at her home. She was born February 15, 1930 in Dearborn County, Indiana to Floyd and Gladys (Johnson) Miller.
Sharon was a 1948 graduate of Aurora High School. She married Richard I. “Dick” Zernack in Aurora, on June 17, 1950; he died July 8, 2008. She was a member of New Connections Church and volunteered with the American Red Cross. Sharon walked with her Savior daily, here on this earth, and is now enjoying His presence, face to face. After her faith, her greatest passion was her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, and all types of flowers and plants. It gave her great joy to help others and to serve them. She was also a tender-hearted animal lover.
Sharon is survived by three children, Tim (Beth) Zernack of Lafayette, Indiana, Jeff Zernack of Wabash, and Lori (Kevin) Binkerd of Andrews, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Allison Zernack of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Aaron (Sarah Casto) Zernack of Lafayette, Jordan (Rachel) Binkerd of Columbia City, Indiana, Joel (Rachel) Binkerd of Bradenton, Florida, Ethan Binkerd, Chloe Binkerd, and Caitlyn Binkerd, all of Andrews; and her great-grandson, Harvey Ivan Zernack of Lafayette. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Tristan Heyde and Pastor Steve Eckart officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 5-7pm Wednesday and 1-2 pm Thursday, both at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is New Connections Church or Animal Shelter of Wabash County.
