Sharon A. Jones, 77, Sweetser, IN, was surrounded by family and friends when she passed away quietly in her home on Monday, February 8, 2016. Sharon was born in Hartford City and moved to Grant County in 1961, where she resided the remainder of her life.
Sharon and her husband, Kenneth, enjoyed spending time with extended family and friends. She was active in Sweetser Wesleyan Church and enjoyed planting flowers, listening to music, especially Elvis, and playing Euchre. Sharon also had a wonderful sense of humor and a warm, beautiful smile. Sharon and Kenny loved their little Shih Tzu, Tippy.
In 1955, she married Meridith Martin and had four children, sons, Anthony “Tony” and Meridith J. (Glenda), and two daughters, Cheryl Belville and Dawn (Walter) McHenry. Her first husband preceded her in death in 1986 as did her oldest son, Tony, in 1993. Surviving children, Meridith, lives in Jonesboro; daughter, Cheryl, in Ft. Wayne; and youngest daughter, Dawn, resides in Gas City.
Sharon married Kenneth “Kenny” Jones in 1992 and spent the last 23 years of her life happily married to Kenny in their Sweetser home.
Kenny has four children from his previous marriage with the late Alice Ancil. Their four children are Kenny L, (Kathy), Dennis (late wife, Linda), Rick (Julie), and Tami (Jim) Harrison.
Together Sharon and Kenny loved and shared 8 children, 27 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends and family may call from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN, and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 12, at the funeral home, with Pastor Matt Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park, Marion.
