Sandra Lou Finton, 73, of Huntington, IN, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 14, 2016, at 8:10 a.m. at Visiting Nurse & Hospice, Fort Wayne, IN.

Sandra was born on September 16, 1943, in Fort Wayne, IN, Louis and Evelyn (Runyan) Thorn. Her parents preceded her in death. She married her husband of 50 years, Harold Finton on October 17, 1965. He survives and resides in Huntington, IN.

Sandra graduated from Huntington High School in 1961. She was the church Secretary at The First Baptist Church in Huntington for over 20 years. She was also a Sunday School Teacher, and Treasurer for many years at the church. She was a Limberlost Girl Scout leader for many years. Sandra enjoyed reading and writing. She was the author of published books, “Thorny Passages”, “Across the Western Sea”, and “A Tru Drew Mystery”.

Along with her husband, Harold, she is survived by two sons, Jonathan Finton, Robert (Dawn) Finton, both of Huntington, IN; two daughters, Korinna (Earl) Carpenter, Andrews, IN, Naomi (Matt) Ritter, Roanoke, IN; two sisters, Jean (David) Carpenter, Duluth, GA, Diana (Denny) Campbell, Breeding, KY; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 220 E. Market Street, Huntington, IN 46750.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 220 E. Market Street, Huntington, IN 46750 with Rev. Dianna Teusch officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Huntington, IN.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or Visiting Nurse & Hospice in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
