Samuel Dahl Rumple

Samuel Dahl Rumple, 72, of Wabash, IN, passed away at 5:15 AM on Saturday, December 9, 2017 in Van Buren, IN.  He was born on Saturday, December 1, 1945, in Grant County, IN.  In his early years he was active in the Van Buren Central Christian Church and Youth for Christ. In high school Sam was very involved in journalism and worked on the school yearbook. He was a 1963 graduate of Van Buren High School and served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1964-1968 and 1968-1970 in the reserves. Sam was very active in the Van Buren and Fairmount American Legions. He was the former Legion Commander of post #368 in Van Buren and lifetime members of both post #368 and the V.F.W. He retired from General Tire (GDX) after working at the Marion and Wabash locations. He was an avid golfer, and loved golfing at Etna Acres and Arbor Trace. Sam shot two holes in ones during his golf career.

 

Survivors include: Sister – Anna Lou Saylor, Marion, IN, Brother – Jon R. (Elizabeth) Rumple, Marion, IN, Sister – Elissa Crothers, Van Buren, IN, Sister – Rhea (David) Carder, Marion, IN and several Nieces & Nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel W. Rumple and Mildred “Louise” Butler Rumple.

 

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Van Buren Central Christian Church 201 S. 1st St. Van Buren   on Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A service to celebrate Sam’s life will follow at 12:00 PM with Rev. Ken Thompson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Van Buren Cemetery in Van Buren.

 

Preferred memorials may be made in honor of Sam to Van Buren Central Christian Church 201 S. 1st St. Van Buren IN 46991 or Gilead Ministries 212 N. Baldwin Ave.  Marion, IN  46952             

 

Arrangements are being handled by Ferguson & Glancy Funeral Home in Van Buren.
