Ruth Ellen Sopher, 78, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home.
She was born on May 4, 1937 in Denver. She was the daughter of James F. and Evelyn C. Townsend. On June 26, 1987 she married Theodore (Ted) Sopher who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Peru revival center for many years, she loved her Lord first and then her family was her priority. She loved going to flea markets and yard sales. She loved family gatherings.
Survivors include 5 children and 2 step children, Vicky McCoy and husband Steve, Peru; Brenda Wolfe and boyfriend Mark, Peru; Mary Auten and husband Rick, Peru; Robert Newby and girlfriend Michelle, Deedsville. Tina Callirgos and boyfriend Dancy Jaime, Peru; Marylynn Robbins, Peru; and Sharon Eudy and husband Mack of Peru. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ted, 5 brothers, Frank Townsend, Joe Townsend, Donnie Townsend, Jackie Lynn Townsend and Gene Raymond Townsend, 2 sisters Barbara Townsend and Shirly Townsend, all of Peru; 2 children Sandra Sue and Mark Allen. Other survivors include 1 brother, Jim Townsend, wife Angie; 3 sisters, Judy Sutton, husband Allen; Susie Stewart, Cathy Drake, husband Carl; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the Revival Center at 307 Wampler Street, Peru, with viewing from 9a-10a and funeral service following at 10a, with Pastor Chris Reed officiating. Burial will be at Reyburn Cemetery.
