Ruth E. Gibson, 77, Jonesboro, received her eternal reward in Heaven at 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, in Visiting Nurse Home and Hospice, Fort Wayne. She was born in Fairmount, Indiana, to Howard and Georgia (Brattin) Blair. On October 2, 1956, Ruth married Larry Gibson, and he survives.

Ruth was owner/operator/beautician of Gibson Curl for over 40 years. She had a heart for ministry and shared the gospel message through puppets and Smile Seekers clowns. Ruth was actively involved in her church at Liberty Baptist, especially in the areas of children and youth ministries. She also worked alongside the Department of Natural Resources rescuing and rehabilitating raccoons. Some other hobbies and interests of hers included quartet singing, gardening, canning, sewing, and taking care of animals.

Loved ones she leaves behind in addition to her husband, Larry, include her children, Kathy (Gary) Wood, Swayzee, Earl (Marianne) Gibson, Leo, Carmen (Randy) Martin, Greenfield, Charles “Chuck” (Darcy) Gibson, Glenview, Illinois, Penny (David) Crouse, Fairmount, and Debbie (Brad) Antrim, Cicero; grandchildren, Nicholas Gibson, Kristi Newcomb, Ryan Wood, Casondra Nishida, David Wood, Lauren Gibson, Drew Gibson, Danielle Wood, Natalie Gibson, Victoria Crouse, Olivia Crouse, Jillian Gibson, and Alexandria Crouse; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Howard (Georgia) Blair, and siblings, Janet Rivera and Bob Blair.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

Ruth’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016, at Liberty Baptist Church, 517 Church St., Sweetser, IN, with Pastor Ryan Frank officiating. Private burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Fairmount.
