Ruth E. Bowland, 87, of Converse, passed away at 2:15 PM, Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Millers Merry Manor in Marion, IN. She was born in Sweetser, IN on October 9, 1928 the daughter of Alva W. and Esther R. Oswald Ancil. Ruth married Russel L. Bowland on June 28, 1947 in Russiaville, IN and he survives. Ruth was a homemaker and attended Amboy United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, camping and fishing but most of all she loved family get togethers. Surviving in addition to her husband Russel are her children Ronnie Bowland and his wife Dixie, Converse, Randy Bowland, Amboy; grandchildren Michael, Michele, Allen, Jesse, Amber and Joshusha; 16 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; a sister Greta Rhodes and her husband Jerry of IL. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law Debbie Bowland; brothers, Goldie Ancil, Dorman Ancil, Alva “Bud” Ancil, Raymond Ancil and Lewis Ancil. A service celebrating the life of Ruth E. Bowland will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home, 201 North Main Street, Amboy, IN with Rev. Randy Smoot officiating. Burial will follow at the Park Lawn Cemetery, Amboy. Family and friends will gather from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday at the Laird-Eddy Funeral Home.
