Ruth E. Benefiel

Ruth E. Benefiel, 92, of Warren, IN, formerly of Van Buren, IN, passed away at 7:30 AM on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.  She was born on Sunday, June 21, 1925, in Van Buren, IN to Herald I. and Mary Elizabeth (Sanderman) Plummer.  She married James Artie Benefiel on Saturday, July 1, 1944 in Van Buren, the two have shared together over 73 years of marriage.  Ruth was a 1943 graduate of Van Buren High School. She spent most of her life being a farm wife and raising her children. Ruth was very devoted to her family and will be remembered for her hard work and being very practical. She enjoyed gardening and the years spent traveling after retirement. She was a member of the Van Buren United Methodist Church and the Van Buren United Methodist Women.

Benefiel, Bluffton, IN, 5 Grandchildren – Tony (Donna) Benefiel, Warren, IN, John (Hope) Benefiel, Sun City, AZ, Tracie Benefiel, Lake Harvasee, AZ, Michele (Noel) McDonald, Hartford City, IN, Lora (Ron) Clarke, Hartford City, IN, 9 Great Grandchildren and 2 Gr. Gr. Grandchildren, Sister-in-laws – Martha Plummer, Warren, IN, Glenna Plummer, Bluffton and Mary Newland, Anderson, IN.

 

She was preceded in death by her: Father – Herald I. Plummer, Mother – Mary Elizabeth (Sanderman) Plummer, Brothers – John Plummer and Howard Plummer and Sister in law-Dorothy Maxine Plummer.

 

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel 801 Huntington Ave. Warren on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

 

A service to celebrate Ruth’s life will be at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 11, 2017; viewing will be held one hour before the service. Chaplain Gerald Moreland will be officiating and burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory in rural Marion.
