Russell S. Hess, 65, of Roanoke, passed away Monday January 25, 2016 at his home.  He served in the US Navy and worked production line repair at GM for 30 years, was a member of UAW #2209, Roanoke American Legion Post #160, and lifetime member of Huntington VFW Post #2689.

 

Russell was born August 12, 1950, in Beloit, Wisconsin, the son of Lloyal Homer and Betty Jane (Fish) Hess.  On April 21, 2000 he married his beloved wife Connie Leyman in Huntington and she survives in Roanoke.  Also surviving are a son Scott Hess of Fort Wayne, a daughter Tarah (Joe) Crance of Fort Wayne, a grandson Nolan Crance and granddaughter Ava Crance both of Fort Wayne, 2 brothers Gary (Ruth Ann) Hess of Wisconsin and Richard (Susan) Hess of Georgia, and a sister Dianne (Denny) Lightfoot of Wisconsin.  He was preceded in death by a brother Don Hess.

 

Visitation will be held Friday January 29 from 2-8 pm at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes and 10-11 am Saturday January 30 prior to the 11:00 am funeral service at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Tormey officiating.  Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke, with Roanoke American Legion Post #160 providing graveside military honors.
