Ruby C. Saathoff

Ruby C. Saathoff, 91, of Fairmount, passed away in her home at 9:09 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2018. She was born in Jonesboro on February 2, 1927. She married Glen Saathoff on April 16, 1948, and he preceded her in death on June 30, 2013.

Ruby was a homemaker and an excellent baker. She was well-known for her homemade noodles and chocolate meringue pies. She made beautiful ceramics, afghans, quilts, and embroidered pillow cases. Ruby was a member of Center Christian Church and participated in the church’s Willing Workers group. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Ruby is survived by two sons and their wives, Gary and Gilda Saathoff and Carl and Allison Saathoff, both from Fairmount; grandchildren, Carla Boggs, Justin (Giselle) Saathoff, and Sabrina Rahn; and great-grandchildren, Tyler Wyss, Kaitlyn Wyss, Erica Boggs, Sydney Rahn, Samantha Rahn, and Logan Saathoff.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary (Newby) Corn, and eight siblings, Doyte Corn, Marcus Corn, Martel Lewis, Frank Corn, Everett Corn, Laura Dailey, Jason Corn, and Maxine Corn.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Ruby’s funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN. Dr. Tom Jones will be officiating with burial following at Riverside Cemetery in Gas City.
