Rosella Hulce

Rosella Hulce, 88, Marion, went to be with the Lord at 12:55 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Marion. She was born in Robinson, Illinois, on August 16, 1929, to the late Andrew and Ethel (Dillman) Stevens. On August 22, 1948, Rosella married James C. Hulce, and they shared 54 years together until he passed away on October 23, 2002.

Rosella was a graduate of Marion High School’s class of 1947. She worked at Thompkins Ice Cream Parlor in the late 1940s and then started working at Indiana Bell in 1947 as a phone operator until 1959. At that time, she stayed home with her children. It was in the mid-1970s that Rosella became a teacher’s aide at Thomas Jefferson Elementary. It was her giving heart that led her to volunteer at Bradner Village, Miller’s Merry Manor, and Thomas Jefferson Neighborhood Association. She was also actively involved with the women’s group at First Friends Church, where she was a member.

She was known for how much she loved to laugh and joke with her vivacious sense of humor, and she enjoyed crafts.

She will be missed by her two daughters, JoEllen Hulce and Julie Hulce, both from Marion, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by eleven siblings.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Rosella’s service beginning at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 13, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Marion-Grant County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1921, Marion, IN 46952.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Jennifer and the staff at Miller’s Merry Manor for their loving care of Rosella. They also extend their thanks to Family Life Care Hospice, especially Donna and Laurie.
