Rose Mary (Rosie) Musselman

Rose Mary (Rosie) Musselman, 87 of Huntington passed away peacefully at 1:36 am on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Heritage Pointe of Huntington. Rosie was born on July 25, 1930 in Huntington, the daughter of Aden and Nina (Shenefield) Ellet. She was a graduate of Huntington Township High school.

Rosie was united in marriage to Jean J. Musselman on June 2, 1949. She was employed for many years as a secretary for the Huntington School Corporation before becoming a secretary at Shuttleworth Corporation in Huntington, She retired in 1991.

Rosie was involved in many activities throughout her lifetime. She was a Girl Scout leader and camp counselor at Camp Mamie Sunley for many years. She served on the steering committee for the early Heritage Days. She was also the co-founder and president of the Huntington County Art Guild. Her paintings hung at the Indiana State House and her hand painted Christmas ornament was selected to hang in the Indiana Museum. She had her “Rosie” booth at the Forks of the Wabash Pioneer Festival for many years.

Rosie was an avid sports fan, her favorite being basketball. She cheered for the Huntington Vikings, Purdue, and Notre Dame. She was a Viking boys’ basketball pal for 10 years and looked forward to receiving a new player every year.

She loved spending time with her family, especially her six great grandchildren who were the lights of her life.

She is survived by two daughters: Marcie (Terry) Day, Julie Hedrick, four granddaughters: Cara (Alex) Selig, Erin (Gary) Ruppert, Carlee (Chris) Selig, and Laura (Cole) Lahr. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Aiden and Carsyn Selig, Teagan and Banks Lahr, Tessa Ruppert and Kendyll Selig.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jean, son-in-law: Phil Hedrick, her brother: David Ellet and her parents.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 3:00pm – 7:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.

Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Preferred memorial donations can be made out to Huntington County Council on Aging in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
