Rollin “Ron” O. Detamore, 79, Gas City, left his earthly home at 3:03 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2017. Ron was born in Marion on March 15, 1938, to Owen and Marie (Perkins) Detamore. In January of 1956, Ron enlisted in the Air Force and proudly served his country until July of 1959. He received the Good Conduct Medal.

It would be almost four years later, on June 8, 1963, that Ron would marry “the love of his life”, Judith K. Sutphin. They shared nearly 50 years together until the Lord called her home on February 21, 2012.

Ron worked at GM as welder and retired in March of 1993 after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Gas City Moose Lodge for over 40 years and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Ron also loved airplanes and watching westerns on TV.

He will be missed by his son, Bryan Detamore, Ingalls, Indiana; daughter, Emilie (William) Day, Gas City; granddaughters, Heidi Detamore-Gunyon, Chelsea Roberts, and Jennifer Roberts; great-granddaughters, Karmyn and Gwen Berkheiser; and brothers, Paul Detamore, Gas City, and Kirk (Jacque) Detamore, Marion.

In addition to his parents and his loving wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Tony “Big T” Detamore.

The family will receive visitors from 12-3 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City.

Ron’s funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mark Atkinson officiating. Burial will be at Marion National Cemetery at a later date.
