Roger Swain, 65 died at 2:24 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN. He was born in Marion, IN to the late Clarence and Cora (Fletcher) Swain. He was a 1970 graduate of Marion High School and received his vocational schooling from Tucker Career Center. On July 20, 1973, Roger married Lois Martin. She survives.
Roger was employed at RCA for 33 years and retired from the Walmart Distribution Center after 9 years. He was a family man and loved spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren. Roger enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle, going to car auctions and taking his 1969 Nova SS to car shows.
In addition to his wife, Roger is survived by his son, Roger (Jo-Ellen White) Swain, Marion; grandchildren, Brady and Gracey Swain; brothers, Bill (Madalyn) Swain, Marion, Junior (Kathie) Swain and Sam (Tina) Swain, both of Gas City; sisters-in-law, Becky (Tom) Harris, Florida and Janice Martin, Gas City; brother-in-law, Jim Haggard, Marion; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gloria Haggard; brothers-in-law, Fred Martin, Ronnie Martin and George Martin.
The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, Indiana.
A funeral service to celebrate Roger’s life will be held 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will follow at Forrestville Cemetery, Summitville.
