Roberta M. Runkel, 89, North Manchester, IN died at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2016 in Timbercrest Senior Living Community, North Manchester, IN. She was born May 8, 1927 in Kosciusko County, IN to Orville & Bertha (Parker) Correll. She graduated from Burket High School, Burket, IN class of 1945. On September 14, 1947 she married Rex Runkel. He died December 9, 2004. Roberta was a homemaker and farm wife. She enjoyed farm life and her involvement in Runkel Farms. She was a former member of Servia United Church of Christ, Servia, IN and current member of New Hope United Church of Christ, Bippus, IN. She was a past deacon, trustee and former choir member of Servia United Church of Christ. Roberta was a substitute bus driver for Manchester Community Schools for 21 years and a member of Chester Charmers Home Ec Club for 50 years. She is survived by sons, Gary (Karen) Runkel, North Manchester, IN and Steve (Cindy) Runkel, North Manchester, IN; daughter, Connie Runkel Lerner, North Manchester, IN; grandchildren, Katrina Runkel, Tricia Runkel, Brian Runkel, Jama (Jorge) Garcia and Torina Runkel; great granddaughter, Layanah Garcia. One brother, Harold Correll and one sister, Evelyn Harrold, are deceased. Family & friends may call Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. and one hour prior to service at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Service Monday, October 3, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Pastor Larry Holderbaum will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash, IN.
