Robert Lee Armfield, 76, Jonesboro, died at St. Vincent Heart Center at 5:12 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. He was born to Claude and Inez (Berry) Armfield in Marion and was a lifelong resident of Grant County. Robert was married to Carmen Armfield.

Following high school, Robert attended barber school and then worked as a truck driver for Central Transport, from where he retired. He didn’t fully retire, however, and worked security for Fisher Body.

He will be best remembered for the love he had for his family. He cherished the time spent with them, especially his grandkids. Robert also loved his dogs which were always by his side.

His wife, Carmen, survives in addition to his children, Lea Alvernaz, Indianapolis, Robert Kelly (Chris) Armfield, Indianapolis, Kimberly (Jeff) Altman, Jonesboro, Geoff Davis, Tennessee, Anita Swanner, Gas City, and Michael (Shannon) Walker, Jonesboro; grandchildren, Collin, Dustin, Amy (Nick), Cody, Sidney, Aubrey, Chelsey (Corey) Young, Jordan, Brianna, Taylor, Joseph, and Macy; great-grandchildren, Keegan, MaKenna, Emalynn, and Brooklyn; and brother, William (Rose Marie) Armfield.

Preceding him in death were his parents, as well as his siblings, Ronald Armfield, Patty Goodwin, and Sue Goodwin.

Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City. Services begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jim Sexton officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
