Robert was born in Grant County on July 15, 1933 to the late Chester and Ida Mae (Tedder) Kellogg. He passed away in Naples, Florida on June 12, 2016.

Robert was a 1951 Jefferson Township High School graduate. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on February 2, 1953 and was honorably discharged on February 1, 1957. He earned the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. On December 23, 1954 he married Mary Jane Polsley. Mrs. Kellogg survives in their Florida home.

Robert started his working career with Bell Telephone and retired in 1992 from SBC. His career spanned 20 years as a switchman, repairman, lineman and sales. Robert and Janie lived in Marion until 1997 when they relocated to Naples, but always kept close ties to Marion.

In Robert’s his free time he enjoyed educating himself by reading and was knowledgeable in many subjects. He also enjoyed his computer, fishing and especially studying his Bible. He is remembered as a great story teller with a great sense of humor. Robert loved his family and was a proud father and grandfather.

Robert was a member of Grace Community Church, American Legion, Moose Lodge and he was a lifetime member of Amvets.

He is survived by three children, Robert G. “Bob” (Connie) Kellogg, Jr. and Cindy J. (David) Hawkins, both of Marion; Cheryl L. Kellogg, Columbus, Indiana; 8 grandchildren, Jasmine Wert, Andrew Kellogg, Heidi Maine, Angela Holt, Brian Osborn, Stacey Hawkins and Matthew Hawkins; 16 great-grandchildren.

Robert is also preceded in death by two brothers, James W. “Bill” Kellogg and Philip R. Kellogg; one special sister, Shirley Clasby.

Visitation will be held from 3pm-6pm, Sunday, June 19, 2016 in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street, Marion, Indiana.

The funeral will be held on Monday at 10:30am in the funeral home with Dr. Thomas Mansbarger officiating.

Burial with military honors will take place in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
