Robert D. Kenney

Robert D. Kenney, 92, Marion, died at 7:40 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System in Marion. He was born in Frankfort, Indiana, on December 8, 1925, to the late Vernon and Laura (Truex) Kenney. He married Gracie Little in 1965, and she preceded him in death in 2004.

Robert was a U.S. Army veteran and worked as a machinist at Automatic Coil and Spring. He was known for inventing the oil filter block. He enjoyed woodworking, making outdoor furniture, gardening, and sitting outside in the sun. Robert also was fortunate enough to have traveled to all 50 states in his lifetime. He attended First Church of the Nazarene in Marion.

He is survived by his daughter, Gail Lowery, Knoxville, Tennessee; brother, Skip Kenney, Springfield, Ohio; and 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and loving wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Gatton, and brother, Earl Kenney.

A funeral service for Robert will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the VA Protestant Chapel, 1700 E. 38th St., Marion, IN. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
