Robert “Bob”  M. McManaman, 94, of Fairmount, Indiana died Monday, February 6, 2017 at York Place Assisted Living in Marion.

Robert was born in Grant County, Indiana on August 28, 1922, the son of Marshall McManaman and Gertrude (Pattison) McManaman.   He was a graduate of Fairmount High School and attended Indiana Business College and Syracuse University.  Bob served his country in the Army during WWII in the 517th Field Artillery.  After serving in the Army, Bob went to work as a teller in 1946 at The Fairmount State Bank where he worked his way up to Bank President and Chairman of the Board.  He retired as Bank President in 1988, but served as Chairman of the Board until his death.  As a charter member and founder of the Fairmount Historical Museum in the 1970’s, Bob served in various officer positions and worked tirelessly year round to make sure the Fairmount Museum Days-Remembering James Dean was successful.  He served on the board of directors for the Salvation Army, Park Cemetery and Fairmount Realty.  Bob was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 313, a member of the VFW, 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge #635, and a former member of the Fairmount Lions Club.

He is survived by his daughter Cathy E. (Mark) Sipes, Fairmount, IN, Grandson, Jeffrey B. McHenry, Fairmount, IN, Great-grandsons, Sheumais and Hagan McHenry, Fairmount, IN.  Brother, Wayne McManaman, Sweetser, IN, Sisters-in-law, June Peterson and Margaret Craw both of Marion, IN.  Several nieces, nephews and great, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie E. Craw on July 18, 1992.   They were married on December 24, 1943.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where there will be a visitation on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 4-8 PM.

Funeral service for Bob will be on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 2 PM with Dr. Thomas G. Jones officiating.  Burial and graveside service with military rites will follow at Park Cemetery in Fairmount.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairmount Historical Museum in care of the funeral home.
