Robert (Bob) Eugene Hawley, 80, of Peru passed away at 6:28 am on December 4, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Peru.
He was born on November 2, 1937 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Robert L. and Cora Hawley. Bob married Martha Jo Schreyer-Kuszmaul on May 27, 1962 and recently celebrated 55 years together. He served in the United States Navy for three years and retired from Chrysler in 1991 and was respected by many of his peers.
Bob is survived by his wife Martha Jo Hawley and his three children, Gary L. Hawley and his wife Brenda (Tyler, TX), Dennis E. Hawley and his wife Patty (Peru, IN), and Janet Bailey Parker and her husband Kyle (Birmingham, AL). Also, grandchildren Caleb (wife Bekah), Sarah Beth (husband Jason Thomsen), Chris (wife Alena), Mellissa (husband Josh Jones), and Zachary. Also, great-grandchildren Addison, Gavin, Maverick, Liam, and January. Also surviving are brothers Gary D. Hawley (wife Vicky) and Walter Hawley (wife Carol) both of Peru, and half-brothers Shawn Hawley of Terre Haute and Dane Hawley of Ft. Wayne. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob loved sports and was an avid Indiana University fan. In his younger days he played, coached and managed a local softball team that won many championships. He also loved to bowl, fish and achieved Life-Master as a bridge player. He enjoyed camping with his extended family and created many fond memories for his family to cherish. Although he was an outspoken and competitive, he had a heart of gold and will be missed by many.
Visitation will be from 10:00 — 12:00 pm on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Family Worship Center, 1149 East Center Road, Kokomo, Indiana. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm at the church, with Pastor James Bradley officiating. Burial will take place at Ever Rest Memorial Park in Logansport.
