Rita Violet (Bickel) Walters-Kulb, 82, Huntington, IN passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at 12:18 a.m. at Parkview Huntington Hospital, Huntington, IN.
Mrs. Kulb was born on July 20, 1933, in Huntington, IN, to Norbert and Garnet (Fulton) Bickel. Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Paul Kulb, Huntington, IN.
Rita was a 1951 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Huntington, IN. She worked at Schacht Rubber Company, Huntington, IN, Dana Corporation, Andrews, IN, and owned her own deli on Etna Avenue. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary #2689, and a former member of the Moose Lodge and Knights of Columbus.
Along with her husband, Paul, she is survived by three sons, Michael (Melinda) Walters, Wabash, IN, Mark Walters, Andrews, IN, Kent (Anallo) Walters, Huntington, IN; five daughters, Jan (Bill) Loehmer, Huntington, IN, Jody (Bill) Davies, Andrews, IN, Kelly (Scott) Bressler, Fort Wayne, IN, Penny Long, Fort Wayne, IN, Jenny Lynch, Roanoke, IN; one step-son, Tony Kulb, Liberty Center, IN. Rita is also survived by six brothers, Dan (Myra) Bickel, Jim (Eve) Bickel, Joe (Jannie) Bickel, Pat (Martha) Bickel, all of Huntington, IN, Fritz (Gay) Bickel, Roanoke, IN, Mark (Debra) Bickel, Huntington, IN; four sisters, Annie Olinger, Huntington, IN, Nance Burnau, Fort Wayne, IN, Sondra (Carl) Ness, Huntington, IN, and Pam (Steve) Fleck, Andrews, IN. Rita is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Honey Walters, Kent Walters, Kevin Walters, Kala Nogami, Melissa Hamman, Jordan Walters, Valerie Sheets, Talon Lynch, Adaira Lynch, Braxtany Lynch, Gage Bressler; and 7 great grandchildren.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Steven Walters; one grandson, Steven Hamman; five brothers, Robert Bickel, Paul Bickel, John Bickel, Richard Bickel, Tony Bickel; and two sisters, Barbara Smart and Charlotte Smart.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.
Additional calling hours will be held prior to Mass on Thursday, March 31, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2016.
