Rita was born in Peru, Indiana, on March 28, 1947 to the late Charles and Phyllis (Westerfield) Whittaker. She passed away on February 13, 2017 in Marion General Hospital, Marion.
Rita received her GED in 1999 and in addition, she took computer classes at Ivy Tech. She worked twenty-three years at K-Mart as a cashier and worked at the service desk and was also employed at United Technologies in Huntington. In her free time she enjoyed playing bingo, crafting and making flower arrangements.
Rita is survived by her son, Tracy S. Taylor, Marion; brothers, David (Diane) Cook, Marion; Byron “Butch” (Vickey) Cook, Glasgow, Kentucky; niece, Kimberly Sola, El Paso, Texas; grandchildren, Darla Martin, Scott Martin and Eric Taylor.
Rita is also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Patricia Taylor.
Visitation will be held from 11am-12pm, Friday, February 17, 2017 in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street, Marion, Indiana.
Graveside services will immediately follow in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion.
