Rita Jo Doran, 78, of Peru, passed away at 9:45 A.M., Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Peru. She was born in Winamac, IN on July 10, 1937 the daughter of Robert and Florence McCloud Conner. Rita married Robert A. Doran at the Main Street United Methodist Church in Peru on October 7, 1956 and he survives. Rita was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church and a 1955 graduate of Peru High School. She was employed by NIPSCO from 1955 to 1965. She then was employed as a Teller at the Wabash Valley Bank and Trust Co. from 1965 till her retirement in 2007. She was employed as a Teller at First Farmers Bank 2007 to 2008. Rita joined the staff at Dukes Memorial Hospital in the Patient Access Department in 2008. Rita was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed sewing. She was extremely proud of her extensive thimble collection. She is survived by her husband, Robert, a daughter Raina Hamann of Tampa, FL, a grandson Austin Hamann of Lafayette, IN, brothers Bobbie Conner and his wife Veronica “Dollie” of Peru, Bert Conner and his wife Linda of Oxford, IN, Ronald Conner and his wife Barbara of Napa, Idaho and Larry Conner and his wife Connie of Temple, TX, a step brother Victor Conner and his wife Connie of Ruskin, FL, her step mother Sharon Baldus Conner of Ruskin, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, a step mother Frances Leedy Conner and a sister Phyllis Johnson. A service celebrating the life of Rita Jo Doran will be held at 7:00 P.M., Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Main Street United Methodist Church, 81 West Main Street, Peru, with Pastor Lauren Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Monday at the Main Street UMC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Main Street United Methodist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.
