Rickie L. Liddick, 71, Gas City, was surrounded by his family when he passed at 10:33 a.m. on Monday, August 22, 2016. He was born in Marion to the late George and Wilma Jean (Ludlow) Liddick, Sr. On January 13, 1969, Rickie married Donna Small, and she survives.

Rickie was a lifelong resident of Grant County and a 1964 graduate of Mississinewa High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of Specialist 4. Rickie received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Combat Medal. He worked at Weaver Popcorn, Knox Glass, and at Bowman Construction as a carpenter for over 20 years until his retirement in 2004. Rickie was a former member of both Gas City Moose Lodge and American Legion Post #95 in Jonesboro, and an active member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 1016 in Muncie.

Rickie was an avid golfer, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and old cars. He cherished his grandchildren and loved to watch them play sports. Rickie was a hard-working family man, a friend to many, and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife, Donna, of 47 years, survivors include his son, Gregory (Rachel) Liddick, Gas City; daughter, Christine (Daniel) Patton, Marion; grandchildren, Erika (Carl Holliday, Jr.) Liddick, Gas City, Gregory Todd (Zoe Wright) Liddick, Gas City, Braden Liddick, Montpelier, Colton Armstrong, Greenwood, Dakota Turner, U.S. Army in Fort Eustis, Virginia, Kerrigan Sollars, Gas City, Brooke (Ethan) Leach, Gas City, Cierra Liddick, St. Louis, Darcie Patton, Marion, and Dustin Patton, Marion; brother, George (late Marsha) Liddick, Jr., Marion; sister, Atha (Bill) Denton, Land O’Lakes, Florida; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and his 3 dogs, Jake, Ace, and Pork Chop.

Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City.

Services to celebrate Rickie’s life will be at the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2016, with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
