Richard Lee Lyons

Richard Lee Lyons, 76, of Peru, passed away at 5:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Blair Ridge Health Campus, Peru. He was born in Wheeling, WV, on January 26, 1942, the son of Sherman Winchester and Irene Carlisle Lyons. Richard was married to Chasun Kim on August 21, 1969 for 34 years until May of 2003 and she preceded him in death. He then reunited and married childhood sweetheart Carolyn Ligins on November 13, 2004 and she survives. Richard was a 1960 graduate of St. Clairsville High School and a Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist. After high school he spent 27 years in the Air Force retiring as Senior Master Sergeant. Richard then served and retired as a Veterans Representative for the State of Indiana. He loved family and loved to golf. Anyone who knew him knew he loved people and never met a stranger. Richard was a member of the American Legion. Surviving in addition to his wife, Carolyn, are his daughters, Kimberly Lyons (fiancé Andrew Murray) of Peru and Christine Phelps of New York; beloved grandchildren Kyla Miller, Jonell Phelps and John Phelps; great-grandchildren Raven Isley and Kingsley Miller; brother Robert Lyons (Adrie Lyons) of White Bear Lake, MN; sister Diane Willis (William) of Pittsburgh, PA and Gina Zebbs (Fred Zebbs) of St. Clairsville, OH. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and brother Ronald Lyons. A service celebrating the life of Richard Lee Lyons will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru with Head Priest Rev. Shingaku Kato officiating. Family and friends will gather Friday from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be held at the Becks Funeral Home, St. Clairsville, OH on Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., with graveside service at 1:00 P.M. at Holly Memorial.
