Richard L. Ferguson, 86, Marion, went to be with the Lord in his home at 4:25 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016. He was born in Blackford County to the late Charles Ferguson and Alice (Seacott) Mercer. On July 26, 1953, Richard married Joyce K. Magers, and she preceded him in death on March 2, 2010.
Richard was a lifelong resident of Marion. He graduated from Sweetser High School in 1947 and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He worked as an engineer at RCA, where he retired after 34 years of service. He was previously a maintenance technician for Olynger Apartments, and he owned Ferguson TV Repair. Richard was a member of Gideons International, American Legion in Van Buren, and the NRA, and he attended Liberty Baptist Church in Sweetser.
Working in the yard and in his garden were a couple of Richard’s favorite hobbies. The most important thing to him, though, next to serving the Lord was hanging out with his family, whom he loved dearly.
He will be forever remembered by his children, Nancy Joyce (John) Tetrick, Noblesville, Richard L. (Paula) Ferguson, Bosier City, Louisiana, John Randal “Randy” Ferguson, Marion, and Belinda Sue Ferguson, Elkhart; sister, Ruby Wright, LaFontaine; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Joyce; parents; brother, Charles J. Ferguson; sisters, Jaqueline (Raymond) Carmichael and Twila McNutt; brother-in-law, Jim Wright; and favorite dogs, Snow and Mageleon.
Family and friends may call from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Services to celebrate Richard’s life are at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016, at Liberty Baptist Church, 517 Church St., Sweetser, IN, with Pastor Terry Bishir officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
