Richard (Dick) Smith

Richard (Dick) Smith, 87, of Peru passed away at 1:23am on February 23, 2018 at his residence.

Dick was born in Peru on July 12, 1930 to Willard and Hazel (Burkholder) Smith.  He served in the United States Army.  He married Peggy (Flohr) Smith in 1954.  He retired as a printer from Kelvie Press, and was a member of the Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy, as well as their children: Barb (Carl, deceased) Lowe, Melvin (Lauren) Smith, and Kay (Jeffery) Stevens, all of Peru.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a fourth on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents.  Also, son-in-law Carle Lowe.  Also brothers Willard Smith (Peru) and Edward Smith (Logansport), and sisters Dorothy Livengood, Phylis Kelly and Doris Toten (all of Indianapolis).

Visitation will be held from 10am – 1pm on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana.  Funeral service will follow at 1pm, with Pastor Tom Harp officiating.  Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, with military service provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
