Richard A. Newell, 82, Huntington, IN, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Parkview Huntington Hospital, Huntington, IN.
Mr. Newell was born March 26, 1934, in Chicago, IL to Herbert W. and Virginia (LaCasse) Newell. His parents preceded him in death. Mr. Newell married Zelma Greenwell on May 28, 1960. She preceded him in death on February 14, 2011.
Mr. Newell retired as a Printer at Our Sunday Visitor in 1995. He served as a United States Marine during the Korean War from 1954-1957. He enjoyed volunteering at the Huntington Historical Museum. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Huntington, IN.
Survivors include one son, Richard Newell, II, Huntington, IN; one daughter, Kay Hildman, Columbia City, IN; two brothers, James (Nancy) Newell, Rolling Meadows, IL, Jerry (Anna) Newell, Hanover, IL; and one sister, Patricia Phlanz, Rolling Meadows, IL. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Austin Hildman, Tanner Hildman, Angela Bartrom, Chad Bartrom; and 3 great grandchildren, Lexi, Melody and Kimora.
Along with his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother, David Newell.
To honor the wishes of Richard there will be no calling or service hours.
A private burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
