Rex D. Lange

Rex D. Lange, 85 of Huntington went to be with his heavenly Father at 8:33 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Heritage Pointe of Huntington, where he had been a resident since 2013. Prior to Heritage Pointe, Mr. Lange had resided at 20 Orchard Lane for 57 years.

Mr. Lange, retired from Dana Corp. in 1989 in Marion after 35 years of service. He was a Knapp Shoe distributor from 1965 to 2003. After his retirement from Dana, he delivered flowers for Wehr Into Flowers. He graduated from Huntington High School in 1951.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntington. Mr. Lange was a Mason in Amity Lodge 483 F&M, a member of Eastern Star Floral Chapter, where he was a Past Worthy Patron, and a member of the Mizpah Shrine.

Mr. Lange was a member of the Huntington Chapter of the Izaak Walton League since 1962 holding every office in the Chapter. He served in the National Guard Btry “A” 138th from 1949 to 1958. As a Joy Pleaser clown he entertained as a hobo clown called “Chipper” along with his wife, Johanna, Lullaby.” They also delivered meals to shut-ins.

He was born on March 26, 1932 in Huntington County to Elmer Max and Mary (Carl) Lange. He married Joy Elaine Zinsmeister on April 6, 1956 in Huntington. She preceded him in death on November 2, 2001. He married Johanna M. Odier on June 5, 2004 in Huntington.

Survivors include three daughters: Paula (Steven) Kimmel of Huntington; Jane (Jeffrey) Hubner of LaPorte; Carolyn (Rick) Runyan of Indianapolis; three grandsons: Seth (Lindsay) Kimmel, Mitchell Hubner, Benjamin Keller, and three granddaughters: Erica (Jamie) Bair, Alyssa Hubner (Kris Staats) and Shaley Keller. There are three great grandsons and three great granddaughters. Additional survivors include three stepsons: Mark Weber, Ervin Weber, Everette Weber and a stepdaughter: Yvonne (David) Behm; four step grandsons, two step granddaughters and a sister: Dorothy (Lange) MacFarlane.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Vontella (Lange) Reinhart.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Heritage Pointe of Huntington Chapel, 1180 W. 500 N., Huntington, Indiana.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington with Pastor Bill Rapp officiating.

Memorial donations can be made out to Heritage Pointe of Huntington Fund, which helps residents of the home whose financial resources are exhausted, in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.

Interment will be at the St. Peter’s First Cemetery.
