Rex Clinton Walter McHenry, 91, Peru, passed away at 9:07 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Blair Ridge Health Campus, Peru.

Born April 2, 1925, in Denver, he was the son of Albert Ross and Oatie Robbins McHenry.  He married Joan VanDusen on September 14, 1947, at the home of the late Rev. C.F. Golden, near Denver, Indiana.

Rex was a graduate of Jefferson Township High School and a United States Army Veteran.  He was a good husband and family man, he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  For several years, he coached his son’s little league teams and later enjoyed attending all of their ballgames.  He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, golfing, boating, boxing, horseback riding, and raising beagles.  Rex loved to dance, especially to old time rock n’ roll.  He retired from the C&O Railroad.

He is survived by his wife Joan McHenry, Peru; three children, Pamela Ann Cole and husband James, Coldwater, Michigan; Rex Walter McHenry, Granger; and Bradley Ross McHenry, Fishers; six grandchildren, Robert (Kelli Kalisik) Cole, Andrew (Maria) Cole, Christopher Cole, Adam McHenry, Brandon McHenry, Shea (Brandon) Sexton; and five great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Madelyn, Braylon, and Ava McHenry, and Annabel Cole.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, William R. McHenry, three sisters, Beulah Ault, Pauline Brandt and Helen McHenry, and one granddaughter, Jennifer Cole.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Pastor Tim Earle officiating.  Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver, Indiana, with military honors provided by the Miami County Military Rites Team.

Visitation will be from Noon until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Miami County Military Rites Team or Parkinson’s Foundation.
