Rev. John Bellante, 91, of Warren, IN, passed away at 4:35 PM on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Heritage Pointe in Warren. He was born on Saturday, January 9, 1926, in Chicago, IL. He married Theodora “Teddy” T. Chiganes on Saturday, April 30, 1949 in Illinois; she passed away on March 1, 2003. He married Minnette R. Hartle on August 14, 2003; she passed away on January 16, 2008.
Rev. Bellante was a 1943 graduate of Thorton Twp. High School in Harvey, IL. He received his associate degree at Indiana University. He belonged to the Garrett Evangelical Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. He entered the Ministry in 1970 and was ordained in 1974 and became a member of the Northern Indiana Conference in 1975. Rev. Bellante was the pastor of 5 different churches in Pleasant Grove, Packerton, Montpelier, Portland, and Columbia City. He also was a Chaplain at Heritage Pointe in Warren for 12 years. He was in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II serving in the South Pacific from 1943-1946. “I ran the race, finished the course, kept the faith and now I am off to my next appointment.”
Loving survivors include: Daughter – Judith C. Bellante, Cape Elizabeth, ME, Son – Mark S. (Wife, Susan) Bellante, Pennville, IN, Grandson – John Bellante, Pennville, IN, Granddaughter – Laura (Tim) Riggins, Bryant, IN and 4 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his: Father – Sebastion L. Bellante, Mother – Carmella (Carrado) Bellante, Wife – Theodora T. Chiganes Bellante, Wife – Minnette R. Hartle Bellante, Brothers – Paul Bellante, Charles Bellante, Raymond Bellante, Arthur Bellante,William Bellante, and Joseph Bellante.
The times and days of the service are still being determined by the family. Services will be held at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel 801 Huntington Ave. Warren, IN. Interment will follow beside his wife Teddy in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Warren.
