Rachena Diane Carpenter, 56, Fairmount, went to be with her Lord in her home at 5:37 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2017. She was born in Marion to the late Marion Joseph and Mary Alice (Rindinger) Carpenter.
Rachena was a 1979 graduate of Madison-Grant High School. She was the administrative secretary for the Grant County Rescue Mission for 31 years and was completely devoted to the organization’s mission of serving and meeting the needs of the homeless. She was a proud member of the Grant County Rescue Mission Ladies Auxiliary.
When the holidays rolled around each year, especially Christmas this was Rachena’s favorite time of the year. She loved spending time with her family and cooking for them. Rachena also loved making crafts and going camping.
She will be missed by her brothers, Jess (Grace) Carpenter, Florida, Les (Charlotte) Carpenter, Fairmount, and Bryan Carpenter, Fairmount; nieces and nephews, Christina, Vanessa, Angelina, and Joseph; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Rebecca, Krista, and Joshua.
The family will have a memorial visitation from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Twin City Baptist Church, 7252 S. Meridian St., Marion, IN.
Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
