Phillip “Phil” E. Myers, 90, Marion, died at 6:46 PM on Friday, July 29, 2016, at Marion General Hospital. He was born in Marion, IN to the late Cary and Velma (Stevens) Myers. He married Marilyn Gaddis on November 28, 1948. She survives.

Phil retired from Irving Brothers Gravel in 1986, after 25 years. He also enjoyed farming on the side. Phil was a United States Army WWII Veteran.

Phil enjoyed farming and antiquing with his wife. His greatest love was going to Prairie Gold tractor conventions. He had a skill for restoring old Minneapolis Moline tractors, which numbers over 12 restorations, including his original family tractor purchased new in 1962. He also enjoyed showing them at conventions and driving them in parades. The Myers’ Minnie Farm Fall Festival with hayrides, costumes, bonfires and cooking out with family and friends was one of Phil’s favorite times of the year.

Phil was originally a member of the First Evangelical United Brethren Church/Trinity United Methodist Church until its closing. He was actively involved with Sunday school during his time with the church. Phil also enjoyed traveling and holiday celebrations with family. He was a very strong family and Christian man and very much enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.

In addition to his wife, Phil is survived by his children, D. Brent (Lisa) Myers, Hokes Bluff, Alabama, Marvin Myers, Greenwood, twins, Rita (John) Myers-Reller, Indianapolis and Raymond (Joy) Myers, Marion; grandchildren, Toree (David) Myers-Cook, Tyson (Margaret) Myers, Leslie (Hank) Wells, Brian (Angela) Baker, Benjamin Myers, Elliot Myers, Ashley Reller, Abbey Reller, Amanda (Josh) Reller-McCarthy, Audrey (Greg) Myers-Stanley, Bradley Myers, Crystal Myers, Emily Myers, Melissa Myers; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gladys Myers-Hall, Georgeanna (Lester) Myers-Cates, and Carolyn (Bill) Myers-Hutchens; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cary Myers and Velma (Stevens) Myers; sisters, Dorothy Myers, Maryhanna Hosier and Eldonna Bowden.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Avenue, Marion, IN. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Helm officiating. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory, Garden of Prayer, Marion, IN.

The family requests that memorial contributions in Phil’s memory be made to the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, 1513 N. Bethlehem Road, Marion, IN 46952.
