Paula R. Owens, 48, Huntington, IN, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016, at 12:08 a.m. at her home. She was born on September 16, 1968, in Wabash, IN, to John and Judith (DeLong) Courtney. Her mother survives and resides in North Manchester, IN. Paula married Joey F. Owens, Jr., on June 2, 2008. He survives and resides in Huntington, IN.
Paula was a 1987 graduate of North Manchester High School. She had an Associate’s Degree from Ivy Tech in general studies. She was currently a full-time student at IPFW, Fort Wayne, IN, and looking forward to graduating in May, 2017, with her Bachelor’s Degree in OLS (Organization Leadership Supervision). She was a member of the National Honor and Leadership Society.
In addition to her mother, Judith Courtney, North Manchester, IN; and her husband, Joey F. Owens, Jr., Huntington, IN; she is also survived by four sons, Zachary Haney, Camp Pendleton, CA, Joey (fiancé Christina Stephens) Owens, III, Grove City, OH, Jordan Haney, Huntington, IN, Brandon Owens, Grove City, OH; and two daughters, NyiaJoy Haney, Huntington, IN, Anissa (fiancé Cristopher Kelley) Owens, Columbus, OH. She is also survived by one brother, Victor (Dee) Courtney, Wabash, IN; and two sisters, Sherry (Mario) Lopez, North Manchester, IN, and Barbara Johnson, Warsaw, IN.
Along with her father she was preceded in death by one grandson, Alton J. Owens.
A viewing will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
A Funeral Service will be held following the viewing on Friday, September 23, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
A private burial will be held at a later date.
