Paul E. Leffers, 89, of Fort Wayne, IN, and previously of Huntington, IN, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at 9:30 p.m. at St. Anne Home, Fort Wayne, IN.

Mr. Leffers was born on January 25, 1928, in Arcola, IN, to Edward George and Bertha B. (Buettner) Leffers. His parents preceded him in death. Paul’s first marriage was to Kazuko Leffers and she preceded him in death on October 3, 1961. Paul’s second marriage was to Mary Coughlin on February 17, 1962. She preceded him in death on July 10, 2014.

Mr. Leffers graduated from Arcola High School in 1945. He also attended International Business College and University of St. Francis. He served as Sergeant First Class in the United States Army during WWII. Paul was employed as a truck driver and in maintenance at Sunoco Oil Company in Huntington. Paul was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Secular Franciscans, and was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus member.

Surviving are three sons, Mark (Virginia) Leffers, Port Angeles, WA, Jeffrey (Jane Gerardot) Leffers, Fort Wayne, IN, Patrick “Eddie” (Kym) Leffers, Albion, IN; three daughters, Susan Solloway, Nancy (Ted) Poulson, both of Huntington, IN, Sally (Tim) Ford, Warren, IN; two brothers, Donald (Jean) Leffers, Arthur Leffers, both of Fort Wayne, IN; two sisters: Kathryn (Phillip) Riecke, Avilla, IN, and Ruth Stapleton, Fort Wayne, IN. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents and wives he was preceded in death by two step-sons, John Knight, Gerald Knight; and brother, Charles Leffers and an infant brother.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.

Additional calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN with Fr. Stephen Colchin presiding.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or Huntington County Right to Life in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
