Patty Lou Linton, 90, Matthews, daughter of the late George and Ruby (Smith) Dakin, died in Ball Memorial Hospital at 7:47 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2017.

A graduate of Marion High School, Patty married Jesse Albert Linton on November 22, 1945. They shared 65 years together until he passed away on July 13, 2011. Patty was a homemaker, and she and Jesse raised three daughters, Claudia (Ward) Britt, Indianapolis, Carolyn Slater, Matthews, and Katrina (Myron) Spencer III, Upland, and three sons, Kim (Donna) Linton, Marion, Kristopher (Lori) Linton, Marion, and Cameron (Debbie) Linton, Ohio.

Patty enjoyed sewing and knitting, and her greatest joy in life was serving her family and spending time with them. She cared for their needs faithfully and selflessly. Patty was a charter lifetime member of Van Buren Post 368 American Legion Auxiliary.

Additional survivors include grandchildren, Douglas Britt, Peter (Amanda) Britt, Monica Britt, Shannon McCord, Dana Slater, Darcy Slater, Matthew (Trisha) Linton, Brook Linton, Tiffany (Vic) Felger, Tyson (Julianne) Spencer, Chad (Ashlee) Linton, Wesley (Christy) Linton, Lisa Dakin, Steven Dakin, and Shane (Capri) Dakin; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Janet Sullivan; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, George (Ruby) Dakin; husband, Jesse Linton; granddaughter, Ashley Linton; brothers, Andrew Dakin, Michael Dakin, and Richard Dakin; and sister, Donna Sullivan.

Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

A Celebration of Life service for Patty will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Ruberg officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
