Patricia “Pat” J. Combs, 70, Lake Placid, Florida, passed away in Marion at 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017. Born in Marion to Melburn and Jean Ann (Mickley) Weaver, Pat married Nick C. Combs on August 9, 1965, and he survives.
After graduating from Oak Hill High School in 1965, Pat continued her education at a beautician school in Marion. She worked as a hair stylist at Susie’s in Marion for many years and volunteered at Eastbrook South Elementary. More recently, Pat helped as a preschool aide at St. Paul Catholic School. She loved the Lord and served him faithfully. While living in Marion, Pat attended Grace Community Church and attended Cowboy Church when in Florida.
Pat enjoyed sewing, beading, and gardening, and she especially enjoyed working in her flower garden in Florida. She was an avid Florida Gators fan. Pat was also an animal lover and had many pets over the years. She never met a stranger and, because of her giving nature, was always seeking ways to help others. More than anything, Pat adored her family and especially treasured the special moments with her grandchildren, whom she took care of often. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her parents, Melburn (Jean Ann) Weaver; her husband of 51 years, Nick; children, Danny L. (Julie) Combs, Marion, and Beth A. (Mitch) Wine, Marion; grandchildren, Nicholas (Maggie) Combs, Alexander Combs, Andrew Combs, Addison Wine, and Ashton Wine; great-grandson, Oliver Combs; brothers, Jerry (Nancy) Weaver, David Weaver, Dennis (Sue) Weaver, and Mel (Tammy) Weaver; sister, Barbara Weaver; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family.
Preceding her in death was her infant sister; Debbie Weaver; her brother, Terry L. Weaver; and her beloved dog, Katie.
The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Pat at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Gardens of Memory.
The family’s preferred memorials of choice are Marion-Grant County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1921, Marion, IN 46952 and St. Paul Catholic School, 1009 W. Kem Rd., Marion, IN 46952.
