Patricia (Gass) Norman

Patricia (Gass) Norman, 88, of North Manchester, Indiana, passed away at 7:17 a.m., on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was born on January 29, 1929 in Indianapolis, Indiana to E.M. “Bud” and Dorothy (Darmody) Gass. She was a graduate of Ladywood High School and attended Stephens College and Butler University.

She married James “Jim” Jay Norman on June 3, 1950. Together they raised four children. They have twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She loved many things, but most of all her husband, their extended family, and many good friends. Patty and Jim loved living on Lake Wawasee, living in Venice, Florida, golfing, playing bridge, cooking, and traveling. They went on cruises to Panama, Alaska, and the Caribbean. They traveled to Jamaica, Europe, Canada, and all over the United States. They loved to dance, especially at supper clubs in Chicago and New York. Patty was a great homemaker, business partner, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. She was a member of St. Robert’s Catholic Church, North Manchester.

Patty is survived by her husband, Jim, of North Manchester, four children, Mary Elizabeth “Beth” (Timothy) Becker and John Norman, both of Fort Wayne, Indiana, J.E. “Sam” Norman, of Cadillac, Michigan, and Nancy (Ed Buis) Norman, of Indianapolis; and two sisters, Suzie Johnson and Carol (Dr. Jim) Hill, both of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Edward Gass, and sister, Dorothy “Dot” Sylvester.

Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 9, 2017 at St. Robert’s Catholic Church, 1203 Indiana 114, North Manchester, Indiana with Father Andrew Curry officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. Friends may call 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, November 8 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main Street, North Manchester, Indiana, with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m.

Preferred memorial is Wabash County Cancer Society.
