Nell Louise Smith, 91, Marion, went to be with the Lord at 11:38 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016, at Marion General Hospital. She was born in Marion, IN, to the late Earl Edward and Lillian Mary (Piner) Rodman. She was married to Joseph Livingston Smith in 1950, and he preceded her in death on May 5, 1975.
Nell was a homemaker, farmer’s wife, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She loved the Lord with all her heart. Nell enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews, and cooking for them. According to her family, Nell was the world’s best pie maker. She also enjoyed shopping, camping, spending time outdoors, traveling, and sending greeting cards. Nell was a member of Grace Community Church in Marion.
Loved ones Nell leaves behind are her sister, Mary Allice Shutt, Evansville; brothers, James (Sue) Rodman, Sturgis, MI, Wayne Rodman, Marion, Donald Rodman, Marion, and Allen Rodman, Marion; sister-in-law, Doris Rodman; several nieces and nephews including Robert (Kelsie) Rodman, Ronda (John) Jones, Jeff Rodman, Joy Williams, Ben Rodman, James (Corrine) Rodman, Scott (Debbie) Rodman, Ricky (Carol) Shutt, John Shutt, as well as several others. She is also survived by several cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nell was preceded in death by her brothers, John Rodman, Gene Rodman, and Dane Rodman.
Family and friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016, at Grace Community Church, 1810 E. Bradford Pike, Marion, IN. Services to celebrate Nell’s life will begin at 1 p.m. with Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Gas City.
Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
