Nathaniel (Pete) Mongosa Jr.

Nathaniel (Pete) Mongosa Jr., 86, went to be with his Lord at 3pm on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at his home.

Nathaniel was born on May 24, 1931 to Nathaniel Peter Mongosa Sr. and Mary (Patterson) Mongosa.  He married Connie Correll on June 1, 1963, and she survives.  He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

Nathaniel retired from CPC – General Motors in Marion after 32 years, and also served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his earlier years, and also enjoyed wood carving.

He is survived by his wife Connie, as well one daughter, Jo Ellen (Mongosa) Estes of Logansport; and two sons: John Allen (Lois) Mongosa of Peru, and Eric Shawn Mongosa of Peru.  Also, one sister, Sue (Bob) Tucker; and two brothers, Don (Mary) Mongosa and Ralph Mongosa.  Also surviving are grandchildren Cara (Justin) Wilcox of Wabash, Nathaniel “Nate” Mongosa of Peru, Phil (Jeni) Townsend of South Carolina, Matt (Jessie) Townsend of Floyds Knobs, In, Greg (Lauren) Estes of Fort Wayne, Mare (Zane) Pasley of Indianapolis, Jared Mongosa, Dillion Mongosa, Savannah Mongosa, and Natane Mongosa.  Also, great-grandchildren Averie and Jonathan Wilcox, Alyssa and Hayden Townsend, Graham and Ezra Townsend, Cash Pasley, Holden Pasley, Norah Jo Estes, and Walden Estes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Lawrence Mongosa, Jake Mongosa, and Raymond Mongosa; and two sisters: Joyce (Mongosa) Jordon and Mary Alice (Mongosa) Powell.  Also, one great-granddaughter Clara Bianca Lynn in 2012.

Visitation will be held from 10am to 1pm on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the First Church of the Nazarene, 331 West Sixth Street, Peru.  Funeral service will follow at 1pm, with Pastor Mark Elliott officiating.  Burial will follow at Ever-Rest Memorial Park in Cass County, Indiana with military service provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit.  Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International for the purchase of Bibles.
